YIFANG WAN AW13-14
Yifang Wan’s
Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 collection showcased her Asian heritage and avan garde
designs. Wan uses the draping of fabrics and movement to dictate
fluidity. Her elegant use of heavier fabrics layered over the shoulders and
skimming the floor proved to be conservative but powerful.
With influences
by performance artist Marina Abramović; collection she
focuses on examining the containment of an inner conflict. This is evident with
the uses of muted jade greens, plums and dark indigo blue hues. Striking
accessories descended the runway in forms of metallic weaponry. Some pieces
were worn over the shoulder; reminding us of a soldier on a battleground.

‘BYE BYE YOUTH’
Min Pin Tien’s collection showcased a range of uplifting materials from brown suedes to soft pastels panels. The London College of Fashion graduate drew inspirations from films such as Flowers of War and Nanking! Nanking! Colors ranged from earthy greens to petal pinks weighted with heavier accents calling in the forms of metal buckles and dark panel details. Each garment descended down the runway teething with youthful buoyance and innocence. We saw over-sized silhouettes in coats as well as denser knit pieces. Looks were also capped with soft white beanies and matching soft hued poms-poms. The collection showcased Ming’s knowledge and innovation as graphic lines were patched across the knits.
We see Minimalism in a youthful light but still contrasting with undertones of the harshness of war. A combination of wear-ability and nostalgic memories paired with a beautiful soundtrack from Wankelmut; One Day/Reckoning Song flooded the Freemason’s Hall.

LUG VON SIGA Autumn/Winter ‘13 Mirror
Turkish Designer Gul Agis showed her Autumn/Winter 2013-14 collection at the Freemason’s Hall during Day 1 of LFW. Her brand has taken an elegant androgyny approach to the colder months with bowler hats and low drops in necklines. Subdued reflective leather florals were imprinted on both skirts and tunics. We saw pops of bright fuchsia in draping chiffon skirts as well as gold metallic suits. The most eyecatching piece however had to be the central mirror embellished frontal collar jacket which sent specs of light across the front row.
